Professionals who work at home stuffing envelopes can make hundreds of dollars a day! Let's think about that claim for a moment...is there any way it's legitimate?

Is stuffing envelopes legitimate? Well, it’s true that lots of companies send out flyers and other materials in the mail, and it’s certainly realistic to think that some employees somewhere get paid for doing this sort of mind-numbing paperwork. But can this really be a great work at home job, wherein professionals potentially makes hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a regular, weekly basis? If everything on the Internet about stuffing envelopes were true, wouldn’t everyone be doing it?

Envelope Stuffing Scams

Envelope stuffing scams are so exceedingly prevalent online, they’ve become a major target of investigation by the Federal Trade Commission. This US agency is actively prosecuting these scams, yet envelope stuffing still sings its siren song to would-be self employed professionals all over the World Wide Web.

It’s no surprise envelope stuffing has become so big; the promises it makes seem too great not to pursue. The promise: easy money, easy work at home jobs with envelope stuffing. Employees are given all the materials they need to get everything done! The problem: there’s a lot more to envelope stuffing than licking stamps and raking in the checks, and that’s why these scams manage to so cleverly trick people into believing.

Why it’s a Scam, Not a Work at Home Job

How can work at home professionals tell they’re being confronted with an envelope stuffing scam? That’s easy- just look for the warning signs and hidden fees:

  • Processing fees. Many envelope stuffing scams spring surprise “processing fees” on their so-called home-based workers. This is money which must be paid by the self employed professional before they can collect their stuffed-envelope earnings.

  • Starter kits. A lot of envelope stuffing scams also require employees to purchase starter kits, which ostensibly include envelopes, stationary and other materials. In many cases, these starter kits never actually arrive.
Is Stuffing Envelopes Legitimate?

Anyone who’s ever filled out Christmas cards knows that stuffing envelopes can be a legitimate thing. Even in today’s highly technology-driven times, companies send out printed materials in bulk. However, the majority of envelope stuffing jobs being offered online are, in fact, scams. This does not mean it’s impossible to make money in this fashion- but for the most part, employees make only pennies per envelope.

Looking for truly legitimate envelope stuffing opportunities? Search for work with local print shops and other companies which might send out mass mailings; this may not be self-employment, but it is a good way to earn real money by doing this sort of paperwork. It’s also always an option to launch a direct mail business, where envelope stuffing comes as part of the package.
